Whose who have heard Tipper will agree that he is a highly under-rated and astonishing electronic dance music producer as well as DJ, and the album Tip Hop is no exception. The meticulously detailed squeaks&bleeps&stabs style production coupled with melodic chainsaw basslines - occasionally complemented by nightmarish musings from the rapper Epcot - build a truly filthy, chunky & funky journey of sound.
As opposed to most of Tipper's other production projects (which are dark/swingy bassline breaks - See 'Relish The Trough'), this album is set to a hip hop speed (approx 80-90 bpm) and is mixed and scratched over by Tipper. Plus (for all the DJs) there's 3 unmixed tracks that feature during the mix at the end.
I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in leftfield/experimental hip hop, likes turntablism & scratching, has (like me) an insaitable thirst for really filthy, grimey basslines & swingy/bouncy beats, and/or is constantly searching for that next fix of perfectionist-Aphex Twin-style-IDM-experimental electronic music. Because Tipper is exactly that! Think dark unnatural thoughts & enjoy!
